What happened

CMS’s September 2 OMB-review notice seeks comments through October 2 on CMS-10249 and CMS-10553. These concern Money Follows the Person administrative reporting and Medicaid managed-care quality information, including state strategies, evaluations and quality-rating displays. A separate September 1 proposed-collection notice allows comments through November 2. It addresses retail drug acquisition-cost surveys, Basic Health Program information and applications for 2028 Part D contracts. Both opportunities remain ahead of the September coverage cutoffs, but they should not be given one shared deadline.

The September 1 notice describes monthly pharmacy acquisition-cost surveys supporting NADAC and proposed BHP information changes that distinguish program funding from eligibility. It also describes applications for Part D contracts and service-area expansion; the information collection does not itself award a contract or bypass the applicable application and CMS approval processes. The notices invite assessment of usefulness, burden and information quality. Organizations should match feedback to the correct collection and procedural stage rather than treating a PRA proposal as a final change in program eligibility or payment.

Why it matters

Different collections and procedural stages require separate routing. Combining their deadlines can cause a missed comment opportunity or an inaccurate implementation assumption.
