What happened

DHCS’s September stakeholder news describes the January 1, 2027 transition of Medi-Cal members with unsatisfactory immigration status from managed care to fee-for-service. It schedules a September 22 stakeholder advisory meeting focused on that transition and a September 30 webinar on the change and provider/partner readiness. These are separate preparation events for the January delivery-system transition. The notice does not establish that any particular member has transitioned or that a provider’s operational preparations are complete.

DHCS also identifies a plain-language member webpage, stakeholder transition page, fact sheet, member and provider FAQs, and updates to the Find Doctors and Services tool to help locate fee-for-service providers. Those resources give case-management and billing teams a common starting point for member-specific planning and questions. The stakeholder announcement does not supply every eligibility, enrollment or authorization rule, so teams should check the actual DHCS instructions before making patient-specific statements or changing claims.

Why it matters

Delivery-system changes require coordinated member communications, provider availability and billing handoffs. A general transition announcement is not a substitute for member-specific eligibility and operational instructions.
