Minnesota housing-services guilty pleas involve unprovided services

Two Pristine Health operators pleaded guilty to wire fraud involving unprovided housing-support services; DOJ distinguishes more than $500,000 defrauded from over $820,000 billed.

What happened

DOJ announced October 1, 2026 guilty pleas by Hassan Ahmed Hussein and Ahmed Abdirashid Mohamed in a Minnesota Medicaid Housing Stabilization Services case. Hussein pleaded guilty September 24 and Mohamed October 1, each to one wire-fraud count. The announcement describes more than $500,000 in fraudulent claims for services never provided. Sentences had not been imposed in the release; the stated 20-year maximum is possible exposure rather than an actual sentence.

According to the court-document account, the men enrolled Pristine Health LLC to help people with disabilities find and maintain housing, then submitted claims for unprovided services and inflated claims for greater reimbursement. Approximately 90 beneficiaries were enrolled, including some who had not agreed to services. DOJ reports more than $820,000 in total billing, a different figure from the release's fraud amount. Those distinctions matter when evaluating program claims: beneficiary enrollment, consent to services, actual delivery and amounts billed are separate evidence questions. The case supports targeted control review without assuming every service in the wider program was fraudulent.
