St. Michael's Pharmacy: DEA registration order

DEA ordered St. Michael's Pharmacy's registration revoked effective November 2, addressing loss of Texas authority and diversion controls; earlier suspension and licensing restrictions were already reported.

What happened

DEA's St. Michael's Pharmacy decision was signed September 25 and published October 2, 2026, with a November 2 effective date. It revokes the pharmacy's DEA registration following default proceedings and findings concerning state authority and controlled-substance practices. The decision separately recounts a September 2025 immediate suspension and Texas's March 2026 pharmacy-license revocation. The later effective date of the final order should therefore not be read as evidence that dispensing remained authorized until November.

The order describes unresolved diversion indicators, including repeated prescribing patterns, high strengths or quantities, multiple prescribers for similar drugs and shared patient addresses. It also addresses unaccounted-for controlled substances and recordkeeping failures. DEA found that the pharmacy defaulted after notice and did not respond to the later state-authority allegation. These are findings in an administrative registration proceeding, not a newly reported criminal conviction. Counterparty review needs to distinguish professional or pharmacy licensure, DEA registration, immediate suspension and the final order's effective date, while examining actual documentation of red-flag resolution and inventory reconciliation.

Why it matters

A future final-order date does not override an earlier suspension or lack of state authority; diversion and inventory controls require separate evidence.

Operational lessons

  • Check controlled-substance authority independently of professional licensure, and review counterparties implicated by the specific order.
