Noridian opens three proposed MolDX policies for comments through October 11

Noridian’s three proposed MolDX policies accept comments through October 11. They concern different molecular-testing questions and are not final coverage instructions.

What happened

Noridian’s August 31 Jurisdiction E notice opens review of three proposed MolDX LCDs for the August 27–October 11 comment period. DL40435 concerns transcriptional biomarkers for treatment decisions in renal carcinoma; DL40427 covers next-generation sequencing for hematologic malignancies and suspected malignancies; DL40411 concerns genome-wide detection of copy-number alterations and structural variants in hematologic neoplasms. The notice identifies Part B contractor jurisdictions including northern and southern California, Hawaii/Pacific territories and Nevada.

The notice links the individual proposals through the Medicare Coverage Database and asks commenters to identify the specific policy in each submission. Each addresses a different test and clinical question, so comments should connect the relevant test menu and supporting evidence to that proposal. Publishing a draft for comment does not make its coverage criteria final or implement a current billing change. The October 11 opportunity remains open at each September coverage cutoff; later finalization or revision is not presumed.

Why it matters

Policy-specific review can identify whether a proposal affects an actual testing service. Treating draft criteria as operative could lead to premature coverage or billing changes.
