Medi-Cal updates contracted incontinence products for fee-for-service
Oct 11, 2026 edition · GC-2026-0280 · Published 2026-10-11 · Version 3 · Final
DHCS announces changes to selected Secure Personal Care incontinence products for fee-for-service members. Managed-care formularies and the forthcoming updated list remain separate from the announced retrospective claims correction.
What happened
The notice applies from January 1, 2026 service dates to selected Secure Personal Care products on the contracted incontinence creams and washes list. It expressly limits this update to fee-for-service Medi-Cal and directs managed-care members to their own plan's formulary. The announcement does not reproduce individual product numbers or quantities, so it does not independently establish that any particular item dispensed is newly covered or that every manufacturer's products changed.
For appropriately submitted claims denied because the system had not implemented the policy, DHCS plans EPC reprocessing from the effective date. Providers may also use existing corrected-claim and timeliness procedures. The revised contracted list will appear in a future Medi-Cal Update. A claim review therefore needs the applicable product list and delivery system as well as the denial reason; the publication does not show that the list update, system correction, or an individual payment is complete.

Why it matters
The notice is specific to fee-for-service. Managed-care members must consult their plan formulary. EPC and existing corrected-claim instructions address qualifying system-related denials.
Recommended action
Compare dispensing and denied claims with the current contracted list; keep managed-care formulary reviews separate. Playbook dates are recommended internal targets, except any explicitly identified agency date.
