Noridian repairs G0260 imaging-code payment edit retroactively

Noridian has corrected the edit that required G0260 to be paired with an imaging code. The repair applies retroactively to service dates from January 25, 2024. Bill-type and diagnosis criteria remain, and the notice does not promise automatic adjustment of every affected denial.

What happened

Noridian’s October 6 update reports a systems correction to reason code 5088L for G0260 claims. For dates of service on or after January 25, 2024, the edit no longer requires the procedure to be billed together with imaging code 77002 or 77012 to allow payment. This is a specific correction to an existing payment edit with a historical service-date reach, rather than a newly announced prospective benefit.

The notice expressly retains type of bill 13X and the listed diagnosis criteria, M43.28, M46.1, M47.818 or M53.3. Removing the imaging-code pairing therefore does not remove all conditions for payment or make every previously denied claim payable. Revenue-cycle teams can identify denials tied to 5088L, verify the remaining criteria and ask Noridian which adjustment route applies. The notice itself does not specify an automatic reprocessing schedule.

Why it matters

The remaining 13X bill-type and listed diagnosis conditions continue. This edit repair does not remove all sacroiliac injection coverage or documentation requirements.
